DUBSTEP WEDNESDAY - Week 3

Well over the 2000 views mark I think it's time to step the game up... I enjoyed having around 150 people come just yesterday so it looks like traffic is starting to be directed this way and back links (showing to this site directly) are growing very rapidly as well. Please feel free to post links to EarJuice any where and everywhere as the more traffic the better!

Jakwob is a great dubstep artist who has been around for a fair amount of time. He is best known for his remixes and as well as the 2 Ellie Golding ones below, he has also collaborated with bands such as The Yeah Yeah Yeah's and Lilly Allen. With the two from him, I have also uploaded a couple of bonus tracks which are much more well known in the dubstep world so in return... all post a link to earjuice somewhere... parhapse Facebook status, twitter, random music forum.... whatever but lets keep it growing, thanks!

MASHUP SATURDAY - Week 3 (Delayed...)

I'm back! for good now... work has finished and EarJuice is back to regular service and to start, a quick catch up on what I was meant to do on Saturday and Sunday.
MSTRKRFT. Few are more well known in the remix world than these 2. They are truly the best at what they do and although there has been an absence of recent stuff, looking back in my library I see too many tunes to choose from. Their remixes/mashups tend to be electro based and to demonstrate this I have uploaded 3 gems. For Hip-Hop fans definitely check out the songs with Usher and Flo Rida and for those who are in for the the more heavy dance, the remix of Jusice's 'D.A.N.C.E' is great with the bass cracked up.... enjoy:

DUBSTEP WEDNESDAY (Delayed...) - Week 2

With so much on this week I haven't even got round to doing my usual and I'm extremely sorry for that but here goes....
Roksonix are a 2 dubstep producers who seem to have an extremely bright future ahead of them. With some big drops and yet actually using the songs they remix so that they're not completely destroyed, I really believe that these guys have what it takes to get extremely far if they continue producing quality tunes like this one, I give you your delayed dubstep wednesday:
Hide & Seek (Roksonix Dubstep Remix) - Imogen Heap (right-click to download)

SHIT!

Terribly sorry for the delay but work really hit me pretty badly and so as a result nothing was posted. I am not at my PC atm to give you some songs now but as soon as I'm home (around 7.00) I will give you a couple of gems.... promise!

The XX Boots

This week is proving very hard for me toupdate earjuice at all due to the fact that I'm working up in London but I will plough on and try and give you at least a couple of songs a day to keep you happy. There has been a slight slow down in numbers today (and although this could be due to the fact that there is also a distinct lack of activity from me) could you please keep coming and spreading the word. The aim is to get to 2000 views by midnight on thursday so only 2 days left!! The XX and Little Boots... 2 great bands, 2 great beats:

Gotta Get Low

A great mashup that has been about for a few months now is that of 'System Addict' by Plump DJS and 'Low' by Flo Rida ft. T-Pain. A solid remix that will always get the dance floor going besure to check it out. There's and earlier post on Plump DJs here if you like the sound of this tune:

DnB SUNDAY - Week 2

I see big things for rapper Plan B in 2010. After a successful collaboration with Chase & Status he has moved onto do more of his own work. His latest tune has been making so extremely good progress in the singles chart and as a result, he grabbed the attention of Pendulum. 'Stay Too Long' is a great piece and with pendulums drum and bass backing, it really is something special. Dexcell are pulling off some great heavy remixes and the seemingly uncomparable artist Nero has pulled out all the stops with their remix of 'Holiday'. I apologies for the lack of posts recently, expect at least 2 a day from tomorrow onwards! While your waiting, here are the 3 great tunes to keep you going:

Starry Eyed (Dexcell Remix) - Ellie Golding (right-click to download)

Invaders Must Remix

The Prodigy has been around for ages but they plough on with their work as if they were still in their early 20s! Watching them live is still a must do and a great example of this is them live at glastonbury last year where the music, lights and atmosphere are unbeatable. More recently they there was an album released with just remixes of their songs they called this 'Remixers Must Die'. An obvious play on their most recent studio album 'Invaders Must Die'... I have also decided to use this basis for the post you are reading now. Reason being, below are the remixes that I would have put on the CD, If you enjoy, join EarJuice!

Rock It

Sub Focus (pictured above and described here) has just released this great new track and as soon as I got my hands on it I decided to upload. A great track starting with good build up then a great beat from about 3mins in. It seems to be based on Robot Rock (Daft Punk) and Rock It (Herbie Hancock) with the combination being something really special. A must have for all DnB fans:

Get The Cool, Get The Cool Shoe Shine

I realise that a fair bit of the recent stuff has been heavy so just thought I'd post a quick mashup for you to take it a bit more chilled. Thanks so much for the support over the last 6 days... The site has grown much quicker than expected with 800 views approaching and over 4000 downloads. Please spread the word as much as possible, would be great if this time next week  we could be well into the thousands when in come to visitors!

DUBSTEP WEDNESDAY - Week 1

I have pondered over what to upload for Week 1 of Dubstep Wednesday for a while now but in the end came to no real idea about what to do. Instead I have uploaded 6 songs, some newer than others but I hope it will give you a good overview of a few different takes on dubstep. There are some more heavy/dirty tunes and some that have only a light dubstep beat in it but still make a great tune.
Mt Eden has been around for some time but he is now making his name in the underground by remixing songs with predominant female vocal lines:
Sierra Leone (Mt Eden Dubstep Remix) - Mt Eden (right-click to download)

Hide And Seek (Mt Eden Dubstep Remix) - Imogen Heap (right-click to download)

I heard this next tune (by Emalkay) when listening to one of Skreams live sets. An awesom build up with a nice drop, have a listen:
When I Look At You - Emalkay (right-click to download)

Chase & Status and Pendulum are both well established artists but pendulum very much in the DnB genre, not dubstep. Rob Swire (leader of pendulum) is an extremely good remixer and producer and his attempt at converting 'The Other Side' into a dubstep classic couldn't have come off better:
Eastern Jam - Chase & Status (right-click to download)

The Other Side (Dubstep Mix) - Pendulum (right-click to download)

This last tune I've had sitting in my library for a while but if your a real dubstep fan then you'll love this very heavy tune:

Syke Up

For those of you who don't know me, it's not just music that I am passionate about and another area I like to get involved in is Football. At 3pm today my school are playing Sevenoaks school and before the match in the changing room we put some music on to 'get syked'. When it's my turn to make the playlist there is obviously the usual Linkin Park, Pendulum etc. songs there but I also try and get a few remixs in aswell... See what you think of this mix of tunes.  Be sure to look for remixes of Sebastien Tellier (pictured above) songs as his electronic style makes it very easy to create some great reworks:

Nero....

Nero are 2 DJs/Producers from the UK. They speciallise in DnB and Dubstep and in my opinion... They are miles ahead of anyone. I love what they do with every tune they produce and although they have only recently signed a proffesional deal and properly started their pro music carrer, the beats they've allready mixed are uncomparable. Below I posted 6 of their tunes which I hope will show you the many different styles they have when putting together a remix or one of their own tracks. The MiniMix is taken from Radio 1 and is more heavy than some of their regular dubstep but it is a very good representation of how adept they are at the deks and also how they can introduce mainstream tunes into DnB with ease. If there is only one post you take notice of then let it be this one, DON'T MOVE ON!
I''m sure this will not be the last post on Nero but for now, here are the tracks:
Act Like You Know - Nero (right-click to download)

Blinded By The Lights (Nero Remix) - The Streets (right-click to download)

Forever Ft. Eminem, Kanye West & Lil Wayne (Nero Remix) - Drake (right-click to download)

P.S. I have also realised that there are some more links to Nero remixes on previous posts this month so if you like him that much check back a few days or search for 'Nero'!

Dirty Disco Youth

Morning... The site has only been up since thursday (4 days ago) and there have allready been 425 views... Thanks so much for e-mails regarding new songs, from now on if you think of a song that you would like reviewed/uploaded then leave a comment requesting it on the latest post. Soon there will be a request forum/section for readers to either ask for songs or post links but until that happens you'r just going to have to make do!
Dirty Disco Youth is a DJ and producer based in Vienna, Austria. He has recently released his first EP entitled 'Off' and it seems that there are big things ahead for this extremely talented artist. The album has some of his own work, a few mashups and also remixes (of his stuff) by producers including Fukkk Off and Mustard Pimp. His main genre is Electro and it is highly likely that one of his new tunes will start breaking into the singles charts. Be sure to have a listen to the tracks below, One of his own tunes and the other 2 being remixes:

DnB SUNDAY - Week 1

Sub Focus (Nick Douwma, pictured above) have recently topped dance charts over the world with their latest tune 'Could This Be Real'. While we wait to see how well it does in the regular singles charts, I have decided to give you some of his more heavy material. The three below are all Drum n Bass remixes to give you a feel of what his more regular tunes sound like:
Could This Be Real (Drum and Bass Remix) - Sub Focus (right-click to download)

Ghosts 'n' Stuff (Sub Focus Remix) - Deadmau5 (right-click to download)

Smack My Bitch Up (SubFocusRemix) - The Prodigy (right-click to download)

MASHUP SATURDAY - Week 1

I'm sorry for the lateness of this post... I'm not at my regular computer and things are taking slightly longer than normal... The first week of MASHUP SATURDAY kicks off with DJ Earworm. A god in the mashup world he has gone from rank amateur to someone who artists come to for getting their songs remixed. The three links below show how amazing Dj earworm has been over the last few years. He takes the top 25 songs of the year (as rated by Billboard) and puts them all together to make a mega mega tune, be sure to listen to every second of these tracks as you never know which song you might miss:

A Plump Night Out

Plump DJs (Lee Rous & Andy Gardner) released their first album (going by the name 'A Plump Night Out') a solid 10 years ago. They have all ways described their music as "Electronic disco dance music!" and with the help of the 4 tracks below, I think you'll realise that although there is a 10 year gap between 'Electro Disco' and 'Rocket Soul' you can still catch certain similarities in them. Also keen remixers, one of their best is a rework of Deadmau5's 'Strobe'. Be sure to check all of these out:

ReRap

There has been an absence of rap so far and I feel it's about time to introduce some mixes that appeal to a whole range of people. Obviously all will delight rap fans out there however many of the following songs also fall into the dubstep and electro genres. We warm up with a couple of general hip-hop/rap remixs by Chiddy Bang. Only in their first year at college over in the States, they are described as a 4 piece hip-hop/electronica group that I can't wait to hear more from:
Kids (Chiddy Bang Remix) - MGMT (right-click to download)

Truth - Chiddy Bang (right-click to download)

Drake has been amazing since he's started his rap career and his greatest track so far is without a doubt Forever. Collaborating with Eminem, Kanye West and Lil Wayne is a huge achievement and the only thing that makes this any better.... NERO adding some light (yet crucial) dubstep. Even if your not a dubstep fan, I'm sure you'll love this tune! I've also added a couple of mashups which are perfect for chilling out to. I hope you enjoy:

La Remix

La Roux is an artist who has been able to be consistent in her great work. Unlike many, she has not really had a bad song (as of yet...) however the real reason I am posting is not because of her current track record in the mainstream but because of the even better collection of remixs that have come about as a result of her tunes.

I start with 2 dubstep remixs by Nero. Nero is without a doubt the best up and coming DnB/Dubstep remixer out there and these tunes (in particular bulletproof) are fine examples of his great work:
Bulletproof (Nero Dubstep Remix) - La Roux (right-click to download)

I'm Not Your Toy (Nero Remix) - La Roux (right-click to download)

Next I move onto some electro remixs of I'm Not Your Toy & In For The Kill. All 4 of these are great re-works  of La Roux's vocal lines and also adding that special backing to give it the bounce you allways get with good electro. Be sure to check out the Hostage Remix if your looking for some dubstep thrown in there aswell:
I'm Not Your Toy (Data Remix) - La Roux (right-click to download)

I'm Not Your Toy (Jack Beats Remix) - La Roux (right-click to download)

In For The Kill (Hostage Remix) - La Roux (right-click to download)

In For The Kill (Le Castle Vania Remix) - La Roux (right-click to download)

The last category I find hard do define... It's very much dance but with a much more sustained build up that takes time and care to create. Once you hit the climax though, you'll realise that it's definitely worth the wait:
In For The Kill (Skream's Let's Get Ravey Remix) - La Roux (right-click to download)
(NO PREVIEW... SORRY!)

Take Us

Pendulum have recently been taking a break from studio sessions to focus on their world tour. After an extremely impressive appearance at Glastonbury, playing their own tunes plus covers including 'I'm Not Alone' originally by Calvin Harris, I've been searching almost daily for their next release. Finally after months they have released a preview of 'Take Us'. Pendulum are back and I just hope there's an album to follow...

Take Us (Preview) - Pendulum (Right-click to download)

D.D.D.D.D.D. DUBSTEP - B.B.B.B.B.B. Bonkers

Dizzee Rascal & Armand Van Helden. Two great artists that collaborated to release 'Bonkers' towards the end of may 2009. The original was a must have for any club DJ as it seemed for most of July/August that a night wouldn't go by without it being demanded by the entire dance floor. With its grime feel and and simple four-to-the-floor beat, it was a perfect target for any Dubstep remixer! Although there are literally hundreds out on youtube and the like I have decided to give you two of the best.
I give you Soulwax (2manydjs) & Doorly:

Bonkers (Doorly Dubstep Remix) - Dizzee Rascal & Armand Van Helden (right-click to download)

Bonkers (Soulwax Re-Edit) - Dizzee Rascal & Armand Van Helden (right-click to download)
(NO PREVIEW... SORRY!)

The Right Move?

DANGER (Frank Rivoire, pictured above) is a 25 year old DJ and Producer who has bags of talent when it comes to reinventing songs. Unlike many remixers in recent years, he completely pulls apart any original he works on and re-layers it back together so the outcome is more a completely new track than a remix. His latest beat uses 'All The Right Moves' by One Republic with only small snippets of the vocal part used and a fast beat in place, it's a piece of genius. In my opinion, one of the best songs since the turn of the year.....
Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
